Not much more to add to the other reviews. This place is top-notch. It's contemporary and immaculate, with outstanding service and great attention to the little details. Example: binoculars for guests to gaze out onto the harbor with, several umbrellas for rainy days, a wide range of excellent reading material, etc. Breakfasts were amazing. Each day there is a sweet or savory entree, plus yogurt and granola, fresh fruit, and delicious breads. Add to that the perfect setting and location, and you have a five-star B&B experience for sure.

My husband and I just returned from our brief stay at Topside Inn. Perfect location, easy access to everything in the town, and perfectly manicured lawn and garden. The Owners, Mark snd Buzz are very pleasant, helpful and quite meticulous about everything. Additionally, they had a significant size staff, each of whom we came into contact with were equally as helpful, knowledgeable and meticulous. Also, their breakfasts featured all homemade and delicious fresh food. So yummy! In the hospitality business one can't be meticulous enough if you're running a 1st rate property - and that's what this was. I would classify it as a cross between a boutique hotel and a B & B. We stayed in room 23 ( not the main house) and our friends stayed in the main house. Both rooms were clean, modern and everything was perfect down to the last detail.... freshly made cookies upon arrival, plenty of outlets, Belkin flashlights, grab bars in the shower, no peeling paint anywhere, clean and comfortable beds, furniture and accessories. No rips , tears or stains. Modern kitchen in the Main house. And you won't find any plastic drinking cups here! Only glass. They even have wine glasses and mini - fridges in the rooms. Everything is so perfect and so chill. These guys really care about their business and it shows in everything they do. It's much nicer than two other close by B & B's we've stayed in at Boothbay Harbor. Thanks Gents, we can't wait to return!

We had an unparalleled experience at this Inn. We stayed right when the new owners had just purchased, and they had already made an obvious impression. The house is beautiful, and the room was immaculate. If you care about cleanliness, this place does not disappoint. The breakfast was amazing, and the owners had useful suggestions on what to do in the area. I would recommend this Inn to anybody interested in beautiful, clean accommodations and friendly and thoughtful inn keepers. Keep up the good work!

Perfect place for our last night in Maine. This jewel sits atop a hill overlooking beautiful Boothbay Harbor. We were greeted by Mark who gave us s tour of possible rooms for our mid-week "day of" reservation. Each room, and in fact the whole Inn, could have jumped right off the pages of a Maine decoration and style magazine. Our friendly, helpful innkeepers Mark and Buzz seemed genuinely interested in making sure each guest had a lovely experience. Top it off with delicious fresh breakfast and a big jar full of homemade cookies. Get ready to indulge yourself with everything this special place has to offer. Highly recommend!

We just returned from a lovely stay here. The Topside Inn is just gorgeous -- the rooms are beautifully designed, clean, modern and immaculate. Our room had a gorgeous terrace with stunning ocean views. The owners are super nice and very accommodating.

Mark and Buzz truly LOVE what they do and it shows in every little detail! The rooms (we had 3 of them) in the house were all exceptional in each special way. The breakfasts were to die for and the personal touches and conversations with Mark and Buzz were delightful and entertaining. We plan on returning every summer!

Here's what you need to know about the Topside Inn - their breakfasts are spectacular. Every morning they lay out fresh fruit, homemade yogurt and granola (even if you're not a yogurt and granola kind of person, try it anyway because it's really good), breads (zucchini bread with whipped brown sugar butter), deviled eggs, etc (it changes slightly each day). And they bring the made to order hot meal to your table. The first day I had shrimp grits (yum!) and the second day was lemon ricotta pancakes with homemade blueberry sauce - seriously the best breakfast I've ever had. The property is lovely and well-situated near enough to walk to and from "town" but sits above the crowds and noise. The common rooms of the main building are beautiful. I stayed in the Windward building. The room was beautiful and spotless (including the bathroom). Mark and Buzz were very friendly and helpful. All their suggestions for where to go in the area were spot on. Buy tickets to the Botanical Gardens at the front desk. (At the ticket counter at the Botanical Gardens when I gave the lady my voucher, she saw "Topside Inn" printed on it and immediately asked me what I had for breakfast.)

Had a very nice (albeit too brief) visit to Topside Inn recently. It's a B&B in a wonderful setting - great views and within a short walk to restaurants and shops in town. The inn is modern, clean and quiet. Great place.

The very best view in the entire harbor. The Inn is spectacular. Great rooms, well appointed and super friendly. 5 minute walk to town.

The Topside Inn has been our annual romantic get away for 4 years now. It was every time a wonderful experience. The Inn is located in a short walking distance from Boothbay Harbor downtown on the top of the hill that opens a gorgeous view to the ocean and the area. Just sitting on the balcony or the fron of the Inn is relaxing and beautiful time spending. The owners were always very friendly and helpful and just plane plesant to chat with and also they make an amazing, delicious breakfast that is included in the price of the stay. Rooms are always clean, fresh and nicely arranged. We are hoping to continue our tradition with the new owners.

This place is beautiful, the couple that runs the inn are fun and so good at making there guests happy. The rooms are a great size, clean and overall better then any 5 start hotel chain. The breakfast is awesome.

This is a lovely, peaceful and serene getaway. The breakfasts are especially good. We loved sitting in the lawn chairs on the "great lawn" overlooking the harbor. It's truly a getaway worth doing; we definitely plan to be back.

This inn is beautiful! Located right in the middle of town, it is easy to get to, and conveniently accessible to all restaurants and stores. The owners are extremely friendly and welcoming, helping out in any way they can. The rooms are immaculate, clean and comfortable. The lawn has a great view, overlooking the harbor, which makes it perfect for enjoying appetizers and BYOB wine/beer. The breakfast was just as good as the inn's location. We had homemade granola, fresh fruit and an egg dish - two poached eggs, over veggie hash with herb chicken sausage. The kitchen is stocked with complimentary drinks, coffee, nuts and snacks for anytime of the day. They even have almond milk for the coffee. Love this place! Very romantic.

This is a phenomenal B&B with phenomenal breakfast and a phenomenal view. We stayed in Room 9, which we thought was probably the best room on the property: gorgeous harbor views, no stairs, and it's a corner/end room so lots of windows and breeze. The room was really clean, and you get maid service everyday (maybe that's normal? it's our first B&B experience). The owners are great: always present, very helpful and informative, and great hosts. The porch area is beautiful for breakfast, and they're very attentive. The yogurt and granola is SO GOOD (they'll give you the recipe) and there's always fruit, baked goods, and something hot. Most days we were good till dinner. The location is awesome: top of the hill with a great view of the harbor, less than a 5 minute walk to the little town, and on the busier side of the harbor and footbridge. My only complaint (that is more of an FYI, since it's not the Inn's fault): we had fairly quiet fellow guests until our last night, so I didn't notice or think about it. There is a note in the room about being considerate to fellow guests because noise travels so much...and with noisier guests who just 'moved in' above, YIKES. If your windows and doors are open, like they probably will be, and other guests are sitting on their porch inches from your door and not talking quietly, it sounds like they're in your room talking to you. Just glad they came on our last day.

This place is perfect in every way. Slightly out of downtown (but easy walking) with stunning views which can be enjoyed from comfortable rocking chairs on the porch. Food and service were impeccable and décor is very tasteful and relaxing. Our room was very comfortable and well equipped not lacking anything. Buzz and Mark are great hosts and well worth a visit in a gorgeous part of a beautiful state.

Simply loved this place and really kicked myself that I only booked one night. I had no idea how BEAUTIFUL boothbay harbor would be nor did I realize how perfect the Topside Inn would be. Stay here at least a couple nights. It is a beautifully done hotel, the owners are so friendly, it is not really "on the top of the hill" (I thought it would be a bit out of town) it is in a great location with a tiny walk to downtown. Everything in this town is walkable. Best moments of the trip were sitting on the lawn of the Topside in the adirondaks with a bottle of rose and magazines. Total bliss. Plus the rooms are so tastefully designed, nice break from the classic New England B&B with floral prints everywhere. We will definitely be back and for longer next time.

We stayed in room 16 in the Windward House on the property. Would have liked to stay in the main house but we made the reservation last minute. The room was very neat & clean. The bathroom was modest but very clean and the shower was excellent. The walls between the rooms are a bit thin, the couple staying next to us had to ask us to turn the television down one night. I could also here their conservations from time to time. The Windward House had shared porches on both sides but the back side has spectacular views especially at sunset. The property sits on top of a hill overlooking the harbor and the views are priceless. It's an easy walk into town to all the shops and restaurants. The main house is very beautiful and kept meticulously clean. The living room has all kinds of reading material including the latest magazines. There are snacks available all day long along with tea and coffee. The hosts are very nice and full of information along with which restaurants to dine in. We ate in Ports of Italy and the Boathouse Bistro and both were excellent choices. We met all kinds of nice people here including a group go 10 ladies from Maryland. I would stay here again. Make sure you visit the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens right up the road, you will be in for a nice surprise.

Spent my one year anniversary here and will be coming back again. The location was gorgeous with a breathtaking view of the harbor. The Innkeepers, Brian and Ed were wonderful. They supplied us with maps of Boothbay, directions to anywhere we wanted to go, gave us recommendations on where to eat (even which floor in the restaurant had the best views) and, when we ran into them during dinner, they came up to say hello. (They also baked the most delicious key lime cookies as an afternoon snack!) The rooms are clean and comfortable. I loved the decor and enjoyed one of the best night's sleep I've had in a while. Breakfast was incredible, with bowls of fruit, pancakes and granola that I've been talking about for weeks. (Seriously, I want the recipe.) They even had non-dairy milk! Brian, Ed and the staff at Topside made our anniversary an unforgettable one. We will definitely be returning soon!

I am sort of obsessed with hotel and restaurant selections. Now that I'm a parent, I so infrequently get to enjoy travel and dinners out that when I do, I want to ensure the best experience possible. So I'm a review addict. There, I said it. Cat's out of the bag. So when the hubby and I decided to plan our first post-baby getaway (sans child), the location and venue were more important than ever. After 2 weeks of researching every facet of Maine, I landed on the Topside Inn. While hubs and I both love the hospitality and attentiveness of a B&B, we're often turned off by the overstuffed, antique-ified aesthetic most B&Bs hang their hats on. So finding a modern, cozy inn (in a reasonable price range) was a task. But the online pics of Topside Inn reeled me in with the nautical, cottage-like charm and clean, modern touches. It definitely delivered. Brian and Ed make the consummate hosts, finding the perfect balance of being just gracious enough and not overbearing. The breakfasts were heaven. Homemade granola every morning with muffins, fresh fruit and a special hot dish - the days we were there we had an amazing eggs benedict, green eggs and ham and orange pancakes. Delish. Every evening there were homemade cookies out, with tea, snacks, etc... Rocking chair front porch, adirondacks in the yard...plenty of spots to curl up and read or enjoy the harbor views. At Brian and Ed's suggestion we ate at the Boathouse Bistro one night and had an amazing meal (the lobster risotto is heaven). Avoid the lobster and corn creme brulee though - it tastes as weird as it sounds. The town of Boothbay is super cute and walkable from the Inn (just a short hill walk away). We stayed in Room 6 which has a great window seat overlooking the harbor and the yard. Really great choice - we both slept like logs, which is totally unusual for us! All in all, it was EXACTLY the recharge we needed, in a perfect setting. I'll definitely recommend Topside (already have), and hopefully can manage another getaway next summer (pre-Labor Day) when there are still loads of boats bobbling in the harbor.

One of the best places in ME. Lots of rooms with varying prices based on size and views. Food was very good, served as you show up to eat. Very clean. Good spot to walk to downtown. Not a normal B&B, more like a high end hotel service type with yummy food. Even had small TVs in the room.

This is a quaint, cute, and clean bed and breakfast inn- in a beautiful harbor town in Maine. From the inn, there are beautiful views of the harbor. On the lawn out front, you can sit on little white lawn chairs, and just watch the boats go by. There is a wrap around front porch, with plenty of cute rocking chairs to just sit and relax. I happened to come at a great time of the year, and the weather was amazing. The room I stayed in was clean, neat, and tastefully decorated. I was a bit worried about staying in a B&B- but this one was great. The bathroom was spacious and modern. They had wonderful breakfasts- fresh fruit, a vegetarian fritatta, granola and yogurt, etc. Also, in the afternoon they made fresh chocolate chip cookies. From what I gather, the bed and breakfast inns here in Boothbay are much nicer than the hotel/motels. I usually like staying in hotels... you know, room service, movies on demand and so forth. However, this inn was perfect for a weekend in the small and adorable town of Boothbay.

We chose the Topside Inn from a list of 5 inns in Boothbay Harbor provided by friends to be married in Boothbay. We just returned and are could not be more pleased with our choice! This inn is great. The location is peaceful and serene, with great views - yet, just a short walk to the downtown restaurants and businesses. We parked our car on Friday and didn't need to use it again until Sunday because we could walk everywhere, which was a real treat. The staff at the inn were so friendly and helpful and we enjoyed a delicious, complimentary breakfast each morning - complete with homemade granola, fruit and a daily special - scrambled eggs and spinach on one day, blueberry pancakes the next. They do a great job keeping up this property, as it was well maintained and landscaped. The rooms were comfortable. We were in Boothbay Harbor for a wedding and loved the location so much that we will return next summer for a vacation - and we'll be staying at the Topside Inn!
